UK Road Trip - Linz to Solihul

The Limes Country Lodge in Solihul
In January, my boyfriend and I started to think about our next holiday destination. Soon we decided to take a road trip through Scotland. For financial reasons we booked a flight from Bratislava to Birmingham and extended our journey from Scotland to England and Wales. By the way, I can really recommend the airport in Bratislava. It is quite small with about 15 departures per day, so, you save yourself a lot of stress and increase the chances of a punctual departure. Those who depart from here with Ryanair should make sure to take advantage of their parking offer, as no parking place can be reserved directly at the airport. The parking place booked through Ryanair was easy to reach, only a few Euros more expensive than the one at the airport would have been - but who wants to risk not getting a parking place - and the shuttle driver was amiable. And he even spoke English and German quite well.

Our cute Nissan Juke
Days before the beginning of the journey, I was hardly to be stopped with anticipation and wanderlust. And when we finally got started on Thursday, May 30th I was already in holiday mode on my way to the airport. Finally, we went away again. 😊

Our flight was on time, and so at 7:10pm local time, we were in Birmingham Airport at the Enterprise counter. Everything was cleared up quickly, and we marched the 10 minutes to the actual car park. There we even had the choice between different vehicles. We decided finally for this sweet Nissan Juke.

Since it was already relatively late, we immediately made our way to our first hotel, "The Limes Country Lodge" in Solihul. And right at the first bigger roundabout, we got lost, so we needed a whole hour for the way instead of the actually given 30 minutes. Unfortunately, we checked-in, only 10 minutes after the service of the restaurant ended and so we found ourselves hungry in our room, searching on Google Maps for a restaurant nearby.

Our Room at the Limes Country Lodge
We found one that looked quite promising and went straight there. But there the kitchen was also already closed. Thus, we drove back to the hotel to order the pizza that was available there until 11 pm. We always want to eat typical food during our holidays. But as the options in Solihul are minimal after 9 pm, this was our only chance to get something warm in the stomach that evening. And we should not regret it. The pizza was served with chips and tasted great, and the selection of different pizzas was also excellent. After we both had a good shower, we fell into bed tired to death.

If you want to know what else we saw and experienced on our trip, please come back to read more about it here soon.
