Roadtrip through the UK - Glasgow to Lytham St. Annes

I´m so excited that you are still coming back to read more about our trip. If you have missed posts, or are new on my blog, you should start reading here.

Lake District National Park
After a relaxing night at the "Belhaven Hotel" we woke up hoping for a better day. The breakfast made us quite happy with the different omelet variations. And already we were on our way again. On the way, we made a small detour over the A6 into the "Lake District National Park". And around 3 pm we arrived in Lytham St. Anne.

Roadtrip through the UK - Loch Ness to Glasgow

Welcome back, dear reader. Today I’m telling you about the best moments of our journey. If you hadn’t had the time to catch up with my UK stories, you best start reading at the beginning.

Roadside at the "Ach-Na-Sidhe" B&B
An exceptional highlight at the “Ach-Na-Sidhe” for us was also the breakfast that was served there. In the evening we had marked on a list what we would like to have, and I honestly tell you that we got the best breakfast of the holiday here. And every now and then Marsaili came by and asked if we needed anything else. It was so lovely of her. We felt really pampered.

Roadtrip through the UK - Aberdeen to Loch Ness

Welcome back to another little story from the UK. If you want to read everything about the trip from the beginning, you best start here.

The Elgin Cathedral
At breakfast at the "Cove Bay Hotel" the next morning, I decided to order some poached eggs and lo and behold, it tasted great. The crowd wasn't intoxicating, but it was at least something that didn't make my stomach rebel, and so we set off again. And this day was really one of the most beautiful of the whole holiday.

Roadtrip through the UK - Eyemouth to Aberdeen

Thanks for coming back to read more about our trip through Great Brittain. If you haven´t read my previous post about it, you might want to start here.

After a restful night at the "Home Arms Guesthouse", we were already looking forward to breakfast that promised to be better. Worse was hardly possible - but well. We found ourselves in the breakfast room, both ordered coffee and fried eggs. You could get the toast yourself at the buffet, and also some jams. Of course, the same muesli assortment was also represented here, but we had ordered fried eggs. 😊 Well, we both regretted the eggs almost the whole day, because they were as fat as if they had been poached in butter, but no matter. A piece of useful advice, if you stay here overnight, don't take the coffee - it's the worst I've drunk in the whole holiday! The UK is just not the best holiday destination for coffee-holics like me.

UK Road Trip - Solihul to Eyemouth

Route of the day
Dear Reader, thanks for coming back. Today I’m going to tell you more about our trip. If you haven’t read the first part, feel free to take a look here.

On Friday morning we made our way to breakfast at the “Limes Country Lodge”. My friend chose the Full English Breakfast and found out that this is probably not for him - which is perfectly all right, how can you know it anyway if you have never tried it before? But what was really disappointing was the continental breakfast that consisted of a few 35g cereal packs and a carafe of milk. The breakfast waiter/receptionist was anything but friendly. He managed only to ask “Full English Breakfast? Coffee or tea?” and then disappeared again. So while my darling was eating his breakfast, I only consumed a bowl of cereal and a sip of the terrible coffee.

UK Road Trip - Linz to Solihul

The Limes Country Lodge in Solihul
In January, my boyfriend and I started to think about our next holiday destination. Soon we decided to take a road trip through Scotland. For financial reasons we booked a flight from Bratislava to Birmingham and extended our journey from Scotland to England and Wales. By the way, I can really recommend the airport in Bratislava. It is quite small with about 15 departures per day, so, you save yourself a lot of stress and increase the chances of a punctual departure. Those who depart from here with Ryanair should make sure to take advantage of their parking offer, as no parking place can be reserved directly at the airport. The parking place booked through Ryanair was easy to reach, only a few Euros more expensive than the one at the airport would have been - but who wants to risk not getting a parking place - and the shuttle driver was amiable. And he even spoke English and German quite well.

Planing to take a Road Trip trough the UK

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I took a trip to the United Kingdom. We had decided on a road trip through Scotland. But as a flight from Bratislava to Birmingham was the best variant, we had included a part of England and Wales too.

From curious roundabouts, which aren´t almost recognizable as such if you hadn´t seen one like this before, to breathtaking views on the mountains, dreamlike coasts and beaches and meeting friendly people we made great experiences. We did some city-sightseeing too. Even delicious meals weren´t missing – and I can tell you for sure, I don´t mean breakfast with that. 😉

More detailed descriptions of our journey will follow here in the next few days. I hope, dear reader, that I can wake your wanderlust a little bit and inspire you to travel more. I mostly want to show you that even as an ordinary person, it must not cost you a fortune to explore the world. Often times, it is small things that make a huge difference when it comes to saving money traveling.

So please, revisit my page and get inspired.

Ireland: Facts, Costs, Packlist

Driving a car in Ireland

Driving on the other side of the street may seem strange at first, but you will get used to it faster than you think. And if you drive a rental car, there will be stickers in the car remembering you to drive on the left anyway. Besides that, driving in Ireland is a great experience. As soon as you have left Dublin, you will find it almost relaxing. There is no honking and jostling. If you drive slower than allowed – as streets can sometimes be quite narrow – that´s no problem too. No one will be mad with you. It seems drivers in Ireland are just as friendly as people are there in general.

The last hours of our Roadtrip plus Exploring Dublin Part 2

St. Fin Barre´s Cathedral
As promised, here comes the second part of my travelogue on Ireland. For all those who don't know the first one yet, you can find it here.

We would have liked to have had a cup of coffee somewhere at the Ring of Kerry, but somehow everything looked too crowded. So, we drove on to Cork, where we stopped by to visit the St. Fin Barre´s Cathedral and then took a break at The Hunted Hog in Castlemartyr, which has an unexpectedly large guest garden. And I can recommend eating there as well, cause it tasted really great.
Our Room at the Copper Coast B&B
Strengthened we made our way from there to the Copper Coast B&B. At first sight, I would have loved to flee from there because from the outside it looks a bit run-down, but after we entered the house and got to know the owner, we were reassured. Even if the facade of this pension does not look particularly lovely, inside everything is nicely prepared and maintained.

Roadtrip through Ireland Part 1

Travel Ireland
Me finally in Ireland :)
Today I want to tell you a little bit about a road trip, my boyfriend and I took last June. Originally this was posted in the previous year on my book blog, but I will give away more details here. As I have a lot to tell, this will only be the first half of my travelogue. In a few days, the second one will follow. I hope you may find some inspiration for your own travels. But be warned, reading could lead to serious wanderlust. ;)

Right after we landed at the airport in Dublin on Saturday, we set off for the rental car company. The transfer from the airport to their premises was fast and uncomplicated. The car had already been booked in advance, the Hertz employees were friendly, and everything went smoothly and without a hitch. And then we could start jetting. By the way, here you can take a closer look at our route.

About Me

me in Slovenia in September 2018
I started this blog because I wanted to tell you about my cost-efficient travels from a Europeans perspective. There are a whole lot of blogs about traveling
out here, but most of the English one center around traveling from the USA. But I found no interestingly written from a European based person. Which means either there is none or I´m bad when it comes to searching for good blogs - sorry if I missed your excellent travel blog ;)

My goal was and is to show people, how easy it can be to travel the world, to see other countries, to explore the world on your own terms and get to know different cultures. I still see this as my main goal in writing this.

But why? Well, I read a holiday report, that was somehow shocking to me. First of all, it said, that most people in Austria and from other countries close to us have a tendency of traveling to the same spots, they have always gone to. The second shock was the average cost per Person for a week of traveling, which was somewhere around € 2.400.
