Roadtrip through the UK - Eyemouth to Aberdeen

Thanks for coming back to read more about our trip through Great Brittain. If you haven´t read my previous post about it, you might want to start here.

After a restful night at the "Home Arms Guesthouse", we were already looking forward to breakfast that promised to be better. Worse was hardly possible - but well. We found ourselves in the breakfast room, both ordered coffee and fried eggs. You could get the toast yourself at the buffet, and also some jams. Of course, the same muesli assortment was also represented here, but we had ordered fried eggs. 😊 Well, we both regretted the eggs almost the whole day, because they were as fat as if they had been poached in butter, but no matter. A piece of useful advice, if you stay here overnight, don't take the coffee - it's the worst I've drunk in the whole holiday! The UK is just not the best holiday destination for coffee-holics like me.

Afterwards, we set off again. Destination of the day was Aberdeen. But first, we needed a gas station and what was I happy, when I noticed that there was a Starbucks to go in the gas station shop! Finally, real coffee again!

Dunnottar Castle
The beautiful landscape passed by and we really enjoyed the drive through the Scottish lowlands. As a stopover, we visited the impressive “Dunnottar Castle” and were even lucky that the sun came out a little.

Our room at the Cove Bay Hotel
Then we finally arrived at the "Cove Bay Hotel" around 3 pm, and after we had moved into our room, we made a trip to the old town of Aberdeen. Where I especially liked the "St. Machar Cathedral". Unfortunately, it was already closed, so that we could not see it from the inside. But soon we got hungry and went back to the hotel, where we had already made a reservation for dinner.

Haggis Spring Roll
And I was exceptionally brave that evening and ordered a Haggis spring roll as a starter. And it was really fabulous. And who now thinks ugh, should know that I also once said that. But once you've outwitted your brain, where the spring roll was a big help in, you quickly realize that this dish tastes delicious. But also the rest of the dinner was not bad. The evening ended with us spending it at the bar and having a lot of fun with the boss and a Lithuanian waitress.

I hope you enjoyed this part and are coming back, to read more about our vacation. Till then, I wish you happy traveling or travel-planning.

Yours
Julia
